Interpreting and court interpreters on site

When a party does not speak Serbian, the law often requires an interpreter to be present: at a wedding, before a notary, in court or at the police. For business meetings, audits and conferences we provide experienced consecutive and simultaneous interpreters, in person anywhere in Serbia or via video call.

Where you need an interpreter

  • Marrying a foreign national at the registry office
  • Certification of contracts, powers of attorney and statements before a notary
  • Court hearings, interviews and proceedings before the police and administrative bodies
  • Property purchases and contract signings
  • Business meetings, negotiations, audits and factory visits
  • Conferences, seminars and trainings (simultaneous, with or without equipment)
  • Medical appointments and conversations in healthcare facilities

Consecutive or simultaneous?

In consecutive interpreting the speaker pauses and the interpreter translates section by section. It suits meetings, certifications and small groups. Simultaneous interpreting runs at the same time as the speech, usually from a booth or as whispered interpreting, and is used at conferences. Full-day simultaneous events require two interpreters taking turns.

What we need for a quote

The date, place and approximate duration, the language pair, the type of event and any preparation material (agenda, presentations, draft contract). Based on this you receive a quote including travel costs if the event is outside the interpreter's home city.

Frequently asked questions

How is interpreting charged?

Usually per hour or per day, with a minimum booking and any travel costs. The exact amount depends on the language, type of interpreting and duration.

Can I book an interpreter for a rare language?

Usually yes, with a little more lead time. Send your request as early as possible, especially for weddings and hearings with fixed dates.
