Certified translation sealed by a court-appointed translator

When a document has to be filed with a court, an embassy, a registry office, a university or an employer abroad, a plain translation will not do. You need a certified translation: one prepared by a court interpreter (sudski tumač) appointed by the Serbian Ministry of Justice, signed, stamped and bound to the original or a certified copy of the document.

What we translate and certify

  • Civil register extracts (birth, marriage, death) and citizenship certificates
  • Diplomas, school certificates, diploma supplements and syllabi
  • Criminal record certificates and certificates of no pending proceedings
  • Court rulings, decisions, claims, powers of attorney and notarial deeds
  • Contracts, articles of association, business register (APR) extracts and financial statements
  • Medical records, discharge letters and test results
  • Driving licences, vehicle registration and vehicle import documents
  • Employment records, references and certificates needed to work abroad

What a certified translation looks like

In Serbia a certified translation is always bound to the document it was made from. The court interpreter attaches the original or a certified photocopy, binds them with a tricolour cord, and stamps and signs the translation with a statement that it fully corresponds to the source.

That is why it matters, before translation, whether the receiving authority will also require an apostille. The apostille is normally placed on the original before translation, and some countries also want an apostille on the translation itself. Tell us which country and institution the document is for and we will suggest the correct order.

What the price depends on

Translations are charged per translation page. The price depends on the language pair, type and complexity of the text, deadline and number of certified copies. Handwritten documents, tables and specialised terminology take more time than standard certificates.

That is why we do not publish a fixed price list. Send a scan or photo of the document and you will get the exact price and deadline before you decide.

Turnaround and delivery

Standard personal documents are usually ready within a few working days, and urgent translations are possible by arrangement. We send the finished translation by courier anywhere in Serbia or abroad, and you can receive a scan of the certified translation by email to check it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to bring the original in person?

No. A clear scan or photo is enough for a quote. For the certified translation itself the translator needs the original or a certified copy, which you can send by courier; we will agree on the most practical option.

Will the certified translation be accepted abroad?

Translations by Serbian court interpreters are accepted by institutions in most countries, especially when the document carries an apostille or has been legalised. Some countries have extra requirements; we check them for your destination.

How long is a certified translation valid?

The translation itself does not expire, but institutions often require the underlying document (for example a birth extract or criminal record certificate) to be no older than 3 or 6 months. Check the deadline with the receiving institution before translating.
