Frequently asked questions

If you cannot find your answer here, email us. We reply on working days, usually the same day.

What is a certified translation and when do I need one?

A certified translation is prepared and stamped by a court interpreter appointed by the Serbian Ministry of Justice. You need one for any document submitted to government bodies, courts, embassies, registry offices and universities, in Serbia and abroad.

What is the difference between an apostille and legalisation?

An apostille is a single court certificate valid in countries party to the Hague Convention. Legalisation is a longer chain: court, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the destination country's embassy. Which one you need depends on the country where the document will be used.

Do I have to come in person?

In most cases, no. We quote from a scan, you can send originals by courier, and we return the finished documents to your address. You only need to attend in person to have your own signature certified by a notary, or when an interpreter is needed on site.

How long does it take?

Standard personal documents are usually translated within a few working days. Apostille, legalisation and document retrieval depend on the authorities and embassies involved. You get a realistic deadline with the quote, and urgent translations are possible by arrangement.

How much does a certified translation cost?

The price depends on the language, length and type of document, the certifications required and the deadline. Send us a scan and you will receive an exact price with no obligation.

Are my data and documents safe?

We use your documents only to carry out the translation or certification you ordered and share them with no one except the institutions the document is submitted to. Court interpreters are bound by law to confidentiality.

How do I pay?

Payment is agreed with the quote. Individuals and companies can pay by bank transfer, and regular business clients can be invoiced monthly.

Do you translate between two foreign languages?

Yes. Besides translations from and into Serbian, we work in pairs without Serbian, such as English–German, when your documents are already in a foreign language.

I live abroad. Can you obtain my documents from Serbia?

Yes. We obtain civil register extracts, citizenship and criminal record certificates and other documents, apostille and translate them, and send them to your address abroad.

Is a translation made from a scan valid?

A scan is enough for the quote and for translating, but the court interpreter must bind the certified translation to the original or a certified copy. So for final certification we need the original or a certified copy.
